Product Review | Wanchai Ferry {giveaway expired}

Last week I received a fun prize pack and challenge through MyBlogSpark.  I was sent Wanchai Ferry Orange Chicken and Romano's Macaroni Grill Basil Chicken dry dinner kits, along with a $25 Visa Gift card.  The challenge was to create a special date night for hubby and I.

I remember our first official date which included soft candlelight, Mexican food, margaritas, and a 2 year old.  Yes, we took my toddler on our first date.  So it wasn't the most romantic date, but it was extremely sexy to see the man I would marry acting as a father to my child.

Later that night I was introduced to his family as "the woman he loved".  There was no surprise to anyone that we were engaged less than a week later and married within four months.  In January we will celebrate 12 years together.

And in those 12 years life has definitely changed.  We are older, not much wiser, and have two more children.  So when I was asked to create a special date night, I could so perfectly see it in my mind.  Platters of delicious smelling food, delicate china, wine, candlelight, fragrant flowers, jazzy music playing in the background, and no children.
The Plan
My special Date Night turned into Family Date Night.  The plates and cups didn't match, the candles had batteries, the flowers were fake, and the only music I heard was the sound of my children laughing.  I figure that the time will come when my husband and I will have those special dinners alone, but for now we will continue the tradition of having our kids join us in celebration of life.
The Reality

Preparing the kits were easy as pie and fairly quick.  I purchased the protein and the rest of the ingredients were staples I usually have in the pantry or fridge.  As far as the taste, both entrees got the highest compliment that my children can give:  they asked me to prepare them again.  Success!  So thank you MyBlogSpark, Wanchai Ferry, and Macaroni Grill for adding a new meal to my kid-friendly, and date night arsenal.

  1. Our first date took place at Outback Steakhouse. It was wonderful and romantic... just the two of us tucked into a corner booth. Both of us were nervous and took half our food home, but it's one of our sweetest memories now. :)

  7. a tip for having a first fun date is to play some board games--just have fun and talk and laugh and get to know each other--its better than going to the movies where you can't talk.
