Spring Break Staycation

Now more than ever budgets are stretched to the limits.  As tired as we are and as much as we want to take a vacation -- it's just may not be in the cards.

So I propose a Spring Break Staycation.

Wikipedia defines a staycation as, "a period in which an individual or family stays and relaxes at home, possibly taking day trips to area attractions."

Benefits of a Staycation? --

Less cost and expense of a traditional vacation.
Less stress of a vacation that requires packing and travel.
Can boost your local economy.

Staycation Ideas --

  • Plan a Family Game Night -- pull out and dust off all the board games you have stacked in the closet.

  • Plan an all day pajama party --  Make plans to stay in your pjs all day with no apologies.  Pop popcorn and watch family favorites all day long.  No cable?  Look for free flicks on Hulu.

  • Plan a bike riding tour of your town -- Spend some time exploring your town on a bike.  Invite some friends, pack a picnic and start riding.
  • Purchase a Restaurant.com gift certificate for restaurants in your area.  Planning a day trip?  Research certificates for the city or state you will be visiting.
  • Budget will not allow you to dine out?  Try recreating some of your favorite Spring Break recipes at home. Nothing says Spring Break quite like a frosty margarita served with some tortilla chips and salsa.  The Salsa and Salsa excursion in Cozumel offers up delicious recipes for authentic salsas and margaritas.  Click here to be taken to the recipes.
