Book Review | Back to Resolution

Title:  Back to Resolution

Author:  Rose Dee of Even Before Publishing

My Review:
Once I began reading Back to Resolution, it was a difficult book to put down.  The plot was engaging and carried you along effortlessly.  I enjoyed the characters and appreciated the development of their relationship, but within a Christian moral code.  Not to be preachy, but most mainstream authors would have inserted gratuitous love scenes instead of focusing on how two people can and do connect outside the bedroom.

In times past I would read a Christian novel and be turned off by the overly blatant scriptural message.  Yes, I expect that there is going to be such a message given the genre I have chosen to read, but I prefer when that message is given to me in more subtle ways.  In Back to Resolution, the message was definitely there and clear.  Yet, Dee found the right balance of giving the message and letting you have that "aha moment" on your own.  The reader was allowed to see how certain scriptural text have personal application in their life.

I work at a elementary school where the teachers have all seen me walking around with my book.  More than one has asked what I am reading.  After giving them a brief account of the plot, several have requested to read my copy when I am done.  Maybe a book discussion is in the works.
